Established in 1947, Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC) helps resource agencies and the fishing industry manage Pacific Ocean resources in a five-state region of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska. Based in Portland, Ore., the firm supports ongoing fisheries needs and activities along the West Coast of the United States. It is one of only three Interstate Commissions in the United States today. The company undertakes research activities, monitors fishing activities and facilitates a wide range of projects. The firm collects data and maintains databases on salmon, steelhead and other marine fish for fishery managers and the fishing industry.
