- Child AbuseMarch 2021 – Portland attorney Travis Mayor obtained a court-approved personal injury settlement for his minor client arising from sexual abuse by her biological father. Prior to the abuse, the victim’s mother had warned the State of Oregon through its child protective services department and the McMinnville Police Department about the abuser’s inappropriate conduct and stated intentions regarding his daughter and she gave evidence in support of the threat. Both the state and local police department are mandatory child abuse reporters that are required to investigate complaints of child abuse under Oregon law. Despite multiple warnings, the State of Oregon and the City of McMinnville failed to reasonably investigate and protect the child. Attorney Travis Mayor brought a lawsuit against the defendants on behalf of his client alleging negligence for their failure to conduct a reasonable investigation and to protect the child victim. After 2 1/2 years of litigation and defeating multiple motions for summary judgment brought by defendants, the case settled at mediation.

A liquor liability lawsuit was also filed against the tavern that served alcohol to the drunk driver while he was visibly intoxicated. Unfortunately, the tavern had illegally let its liability insurance lapse. The bar and its owners eventually filed bankruptcy.

- Property Damage“Travis Mayor represented me in a property damage claim that took over two years for trial. Legal matters can be unsettling and trying, particularly when one is ignorant in matters of law and given the duration of my particular case. Needless to say, Travis was extremely professional and dedicated, throughout mediation, the pursuit of settlement, and eventually trial. I truly appreciated his help and would highly recommend his expertise to anyone needing a good lawyer. Thanks again, Travis.”
