Deep Tissue Massage: Deep Tissue is incredible for releasing tough muscles and myofascial restrictions. It helps increase the range of motion through the joints, improves circulation through muscle tissue, and increases lymphatic drainage. What Is Deep Tissue? My style of deep tissue is tends to be very slow and in combination with other styles of massage. I can go very deep using my fingers, knuckles or elbows, however, my focus is following the muscle as it is releasing and since muscles don’t release if the pressure is uncomfortable, I focus on finding that medium pressure. I use deep tissue when working out hypertension and stress in the shoulders, neck, and back. Swedish Massage: Swedish is perfect for finally taking that deep breath and letting stress go. When I was moving my office to this location 2 years ago, things were a little hectic trying to get everything together and moved seamlessly. I remember the 2nd day of the move I started to freak out and get anxious. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to see my already scheduled clients, because of a delay in the locksmithing. I remember sitting in my car outside of my old office, all packed up and ready to move, but with no where to store my things. I didn’t know what I was going to do or when I was going to have permission to load in. As I sat in my car, I could feel the stress creeping into my back and shoulders and my heart rate start to climb. Suddenly, I knew exactly what I needed…a Swedish Massage. Without anymore hesitation, I hopped out of my car and on the phone with my friend and fellow massage therapist Britta Smith. Her practice was, at the time, in the same building I was moving out of and like a miracle, she was available right then, exactly when I needed her most. In minutes, by using Swedish massage techniques, she took me from thinking I was having a heart attack to the calmest serenity. She helped me relax away my fears and gave me comfort when I had none. It was in those few moments, I knew good was coming from the move and my entire attitude shifted for the better. After the session, in a daze, I turned my phone on to find a missed call and voicemail from the new landlord. In the message, he tells me I’m all set to start moving things in and to grab the keys today! Long story short. We all stress out sometimes and even though I might have gotten that call anyways, moving everything after destressing with the help of Britta’s great swedish massage techniques changed the entire experience from anxious and nerve-wracking to positively blissful and clear headed again. This is my ultimate coal when working with you. I want to bring you to a place of comfort and security where you can let go and finally breath again.
