  After graduating from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a Minor in Sociology, and a Formal Minor in Business, Anita started in the legal field as a criminal defense legal assistant at Rieke and Savage in Portland. Later, she joined Kolisch Hartwell supporting attorneys specializing in Patent and Trademark prosecution and litigation for five years.

  Jay’s notable cases include successfully defending Domino’s Pizza in a personal injury action that resulted in the definitive Oregon Court of Appeals opinion regarding a franchisor’s liability for the torts of a franchisee. Jay also defended Dowman Products in an asbestos products liability action that resulted in a favorable Oregon Court of Appeals opinion regarding the liability of a manufacturer for wrongful death.
• Assault
  Katie Eichner focuses her practice in the areas of medical malpractice and general litigation. While focusing on professional malpractice, Katie defends all types of civil litigation and has experience with employment discrimination, business disputes, personal injury defense, motor vehicle accidents, contract disputes, and even civil assault and battery. She has defended a varied number of tort claims on behalf of her clients, recently achieving a defense verdict in a medical malpractice trial. Katie also has experience in creditor’s rights, including representing creditors in bankruptcy courts.

  Nikola has tried dozens of complex jury trials over the last 25 years. Her career began at the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office, where she tried a variety of cases ranging from racketeering to aggravated murder. She also served as legal counsel to the Oregon State Senate and House Judiciary Committee during the 1997 Legislative Session.

  Connie’s practice focuses on the defense of professionals including physicians, medical clinics, dentists and hospitals as well as attorneys and law firms. She has tried to defense verdict numerous professional liability claims. She also assists clients outside the courtroom, including representation before health care licensing boards, professional peer review, regulatory issues, HIPAA compliance, and contract disputes.

  Zaynab’s practice focuses on defending healthcare entities and providers. She began her career defending employers in Workers Compensation matters before joining Lindsay Hart.
• Employment Discrimination
  Carol was the first woman attorney to be employed on a partnership track by what many regarded as an “establishment†law firm in Portland. She became a partner in the firm in 1974 and developed a national practice in product liability defense and corporate litigation. She was the first woman in Oregon invited to join the American College of Trial Lawyers. Carol would lead a team from Lindsay Hart that included Steve Blackhurst, Rick Haselton (who would later serve as Chief Judge of the Oregon Court of Appeals), and Janice Wilson (who later became a respected judge of the Multnomah County Circuit Court) that tried dozens of cases in state and federal court for drug manufacturer A.H. Robins Co. involving the Dalkon Shield intrauterine contraceptive device. But where Carol truly made her mark was through her work on several important sex discrimination cases, including County of Washington v. Gunther, 452 US 161 (1981), where her arguments led to a 5-4 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in her favor. In 1981, Governor Vic Atiyeh appointed Carol to the Oregon Investment Council, and served as the Chair beginning in 1987 until her resignation in 1990.

  Christa also advises businesses on HIPAA compliance, including policies and procedures and breach response. Her extensive experience in healthcare is invaluable to clients for preparing employee handbooks, employment agreements, healthcare contracts, and advising on medical staff issues and regulatory compliance. Christa regularly helps employers respond to BOLI and EEOC complaints, and collaborates with clients to develop robust employment policies and protocols for risk prevention. She also helps providers entering private practice with business formation and clinic policies, along with serving as general counsel and legal consultant. Christa has significant experience with compliance requirements for medical spas and aesthetic medicine practices.

  Mike’s practice focuses on defending professionals, employment litigation, and general civil litigation. Prior to joining Lindsay Hart, Mike worked for a local mid-size firm defending Oregon employers, insurers, and claim administrators in workers’ compensation matters, as well as advising on risk management issues, strategy, and regulatory compliance.

  Michael has been commended for his trial presentation and writing skills. He has been the lead attorney on many jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations in Oregon and Washington. He has tried cases for a wide range of clients, from defending physicians and nursing facilities on personal injury claims to representing plaintiffs in employment discrimination claims to representing property owners in boundary disputes.

  Alice focuses her practice on professional liability defense and brings a wealth of experience in appellate law to her cases. Alice’s practice includes insurance defense, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, employment law, premises liability, products liability, and commercial litigation.

  Jason joined Lindsay Hart in 2023. His practice encompasses a wide range of areas within the insurance defense field. He has extensive experience representing healthcare professionals facing medical malpractice allegations, as well as cases involving real estate disputes, construction defects, personal injury claims, auto cases and navigating regulatory board matters. Jason prides himself on his ability to provide strategic guidance and proactive representation, ensuring that his clients receive the highest caliber of legal assistance at every stage of the litigation process.

Health Law

  Beginning in the early 1920’s, Gunther was associated with the firm of Wood, Montague and Matthiessen, where he acquired skill in that firm’s admiralty practice and argued several cases before the Oregon Supreme Court. Gunther left the Wood firm in 1932 and was a solo practitioner, specializing in plaintiffs’ personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. In 1937, Gunther and one of his associates, Walter H. Evans, Jr., formed the partnership of Krause and Evans, which would later become Lindsay Hart, LLP.

  He has over 16 years of experience which include messenger, litigation assistant, trial technologist, and paralegal. He specializes in the areas of medical malpractice litigation and medical licensing board matters.
