If you have a Japanese car, and you want an honest pragmatic mechanic, this is the place. Ben is reasonable, he explains things, and he works with you on drop off and pick up. He'll do a test drive with you to determine what is important that needs to be fixed. Very personable. Yes, the waiting room is a mess but that's not what the important part is all about.

My friend has been using Ben for years and speaks well of him. I had him replace the clutch on my 86 Honda Accord. I liked that he includes the clutch and pressure plate. I don't believe he charged me for a main seal and the price for the Honda gear oil was fair if not at cost. Car was done by the next day as it needed a new clutch cable. I really appreciated that he put in new cv axles that I'd bought at no charge. He also showed me a trick to unclog my idle jet for free. I had some generic transmission place do a clutch on a Toyota a few years back and they did work without asking as well as raising the price. I was very relieved that wasn't the case with Ben. Ben is the best I know of, fast and very, very knowledgeable. He's not cheap but as the saying goes, the cheap things are good and the good things aren't cheap.
At first i thought this place was trustworthy and the mechanics seemed honest; after they had done the work on my 1983 Datsun, they called me telling me it was done. Drove it for a test run to check if its running the way it should be, and it failed us; right then and their. OK, at this point i was not fully impressed but not fully disappointed either. Went back to the shop, and he ended up charging me $330, for adjusting my carb and containing vacuum leaks. which is an awful deal, keeping in mind its still not functioning right. The car is still running pretty poorly, and i regret taking it here. so beware, be very aware!!

I had a pair of airshocks installed on my australian ford and they were quick,reasonable,courteous and made me confident that choosing them was the right choice.They are a local small business right on 103rd and sandy blvd.so you can drop your car off and go eat at Bill's steakhouse or hop on trimet and go places while you wait for your car to be repaired.TRY THEM!

Ben's is a High Quality establishment. These people really do deliver on their promise of fast service and honesty and integrity. Their rates are reasonable and their service is top notch. I have no problem recommending this shop to ANYONE with a Japanese import. After my experience with Ben's, I'll never go anywhere else...
