The City of Portland Department of Parks and Recreation provides a variety of cultural and leisure activities. It operates several parks, open spaces and trails. Its parks and cemeteries division covers more than 1,200 acres of land. The department s park system features historic cemeteries and over 30 playgrounds. Located in Portland, Maine, its recreation division offers recreational programs for preschoolers, youths, teenagers and senior citizens.
