I've been going to CFCB for two and half years now - I love it. I worked out at CFCB through my second pregnancy. WODs were always scalable and classmates extra encouraging. It's been great to come back and build up my strength again and see my body changing back. My favorite days are Barbells for Boobs, Saturdays during CF Open season, Throwdowns, and nutrition challenges when the community really comes together. I really like class based workouts, so CF is a good model for me. CFCB in particular though does it best from warm up to programming, coaching, and mobility. The box is spacious and fully equipped. I've dropped in other places while traveling and haven't seen a better set up or coaching. CFCB excels at inclusiveness and friendliness, and the coaches are attentive and knowledgable. Members are widely diverse in age and experience but everyone cheers, everyone laughs, and everyone works hard.
I have recently moved back to Casco Bay in October and it has been the best decision that I have made. In the short time I have been back I have gained tremendous strength and seen many improvements within myself. I have been to many "boxes" around Maine and this is by far my favorite. From the minute I came back I was welcomed with open arms. The coaches go out of their way to introduce new members to existing. All of the coaches are very approachable and have tremendous knowledge of crossfit. There is no better "box" then CFCB and I am proud to say that I a member there!
i.e., A local favorite, or highly recoA year ago I walked in after checking out a crossfit competition in Massachusetts. I had no expectations that I would be able to do most things and honstly was more interested in gaining some training on barbell work. While my barbell work has improved greatly due to the fantastic coaching, my list of things that I cannot do is shrinking, as is my waistline. I now can do more than I ever thought imaginable and enjoy every minute I spend with the great folks that I have met along the way. Sometimes, knowing who is going to be in class is just the motivation to get you moving. For those who are intimidated by those hardcore athletes at competitions or on ESPN, the hardest part about crossfit, is simply walking in the door. We will take care of the rest!mmended because
Back in 2010, a good friend spoke highly of his gym where they did varied, interesting workouts in a community setting. I said, "hmmm... that sounds like something I would like" & he agreed. I looked online to see what this particular gym was all about & decided I needed to check it out. As soon as I stepped inside the gym, I felt an increasing urge to turn around before anyone saw me. Black, gray, white & red color scheme. Lots of metal. No 'machines'. But then my buddy saw me & called over to me... There was no turning back. I was IN. And I haven't regretted that decision for a moment since. I've been training at CFCB since January 2011 & have made tremendous gains in strength, confidence & friendships. I've shed pounds, inhibition & bad habits. The training is top-notch (with YEARS of cumulative experience among the coaches) & the community (ranging from high school age to retirees) is full of hard working individuals with integrity & appreciation for good times & great humor~
