Founded in 1966, Catholic Charities Maine is a social welfare agency. It creates, administers and advocates programs and services for critical human services in the state of Maine. The agency is a member of the Catholic Charities USA, which is one of the leading private networks of social service organizations in the United States. Catholic Charities USA provides leadership, advocacy and technical assistance to more than 1,500 independent local agencies and organizations throughout the U.S. Catholic Charities Maine offers social services that strengthen families, protect and nurture children and support people in crisis. It is funded by public and private donations, in-kind public support, and federal, state and local government grants.
