Bruce R. Cassidy, M.D. is a Cataract and Refractive Surgeon at Eyecare Medical Group in Portland, Maine who specializes in Cataract Surgery using advanced technology Lens Implants and Laser Eye Surgery such as LASIK for vision correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Dr. Cassidy earned his Medical Degree from Albany Medical College followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester. In addition he completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and certified by and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has been in practice for more than 36 years in Portland. A Maine native, Dr. Cassidy is an avid sailor and skier, and enjoys fishing with his sons. He lives with his wife Jennifer in Cumberland Foreside. Dr. Cassidy comments on becoming an ophthalmologist: "I practice ophthalmology for the joy of helping patients see better.
