Petra Toutanji, MD, has always found medicine fascinating. She believes it is not an exact science, but rather a fine balance between art and science, and that is what makes it challenging. Dr. Toutanji says there is no bigger reward than being able to help someone get better and feel better. Having lived in several different countries and areas of the U.S. has given Dr. Toutanji a different perspective on life and an understanding of different cultures and beliefs. As a family physician, Dr. Toutanji helps her patients of all ages with everyday health struggles. She has a special interest in mental health, including depression and anxiety. Dr. Toutanji loves what she does. She likes helping people and hearing about her patients’ life stories. She enjoys her workplace with great staff and colleagues who are very friendly and welcoming!Having three children who are all involved in competitive soccer takes up much of Dr. Toutanji’s free time. She says her life is spent at work and then on the soccer field! She also enjoys running, hiking, going to the beach and spending time with her family.My philosophy as a doctor is an individualized approach. Each patient is different, with different backgrounds and personalities and different needs. I treat everyone as a unique individual, and I try to modify my care accordingly. I promote healthy lifestyles and try to coach my patients in such direction.
