Provided by DexKnowsWe came to Sequim to visit my in-laws for a week. Upon our arrival we discovered that the front tire of our motorcycle needed replacement. I asked around who in the area would service a BMW K-1200 LT. PA Powers was recommended. Before purchasing anything (service or products) I always make it a habit to ask approximately how much it would cost and to call if the cost changed plus or minus 10%. I was quoted around $300. When we picked up the bike, we were told it would be $415. I asked why the price difference. I was given a list of last minute excuses: like they forgot to call us or they forgot to tell us, or they didn't know how much shipping would cost. Lame! We weren't particularly in a hurry. For a company who've been in business for over 20 years, I refuse to believe they could be so careless as to not inform their customers. Yet PA Powers took it upon themselves to assume we would approve service at the cost over 33% above the quoted price. By assuming so, they took away our ability to choose which provider to go with. Yet NO ONE called to warn us about the cost. Everyone their including the manager were pointing fingers at everybody else. The manager implied that if we didn't like the cost he would take the new tire off and put the old one back on. I told him this would have been better. However, by now it would be too late to go to another shop. After arguing our point, they said we'll give you a break. They took off $25 which was the mounting cost. Laughable! Needless to say, I was very disappointed that they did not communicate to us before service began. I would have gone to a reputable BMW dealer in Tacoma or Seattle, as I had already called them. It would have cost me $250 installed. At $300 and PA Powers being 11 miles away, I thought "how convenient". Wrong! We felt taken advantaged of because we were from out of town. I told the service manager and the owner how disappointed we were. They just shrug. I thought these guys were dishonest to the bone. Whatever you do, Don't go to PA Powers.
