I’m Mark Jacobson, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I started Brief Counseling Center because I believe that lasting, positive change doesn’t have to take endless therapy sessions to achieve. The kind of therapy that I practice is called Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and it’s geared towards efficient problem-solving in as few sessions as possible. Some forms of therapy can take months or years before people feel like they’re getting a resolution to their problem. SFBT can help people start to see results right away. I specialize in helping couples, families and individuals tap their existing strengths and resources to focus on solutions that can potentially transform their lives…in as few sessions as necessary. After all, who wants to spend months or even years going to therapy? My job is to help you identify your problems, develop achievable goals, look for strengths and resources you can tap or develop to reach them, and let you get on with your life! SFBT gives people coming to me for relationship counseling, family therapy or individual therapy practical, useful tools and techniques to help them with problems like anger, depression, anxiety, infidelity, grief, addiction, parenting/co-parenting in divorce and many other challenges they face in life.
