- Dental ExaminationOur office regularly cares for the dental needs of children as young as three years old. However, if you notice that your child has a problem with his or her teeth or gums prior to this age, please schedule an appointment. You may also want to bring your child to your dental checkup when he or she is about two so that your child can become familiar with the sights, sounds, and friendly helpers in our Plano dental office. We call this a Happy Visit. Your child's independent checkup at age three will involve a tooth-by-tooth inspection and periodontal exam. The dentist will check for proper development, as well as tooth decay and other areas of concern.

- Oral Cancer ScreeningMost people don’t realize that oral cancer claims more lives than Hodgkin’s, skin cancer, and cervical cancer. About 34,000 Americans will be diagnosed this year, and half will die within five years. When oral cancer is diagnosed early, a person has better than an 80% chance of survival. Dr. Cheung is committed to oral cancer awareness and early detection. As your trusted family dentist, Dr. Cheung will assess your entire oral health, including screening soft tissues for oral cancer.

- Fluoride TreatmentAs your child grows, he or she will need regular checkups and hygiene visits to ensure optimal oral health. Our team will also teach oral homecare techniques so that your child can learn how to effectively brush and floss with your help at first, then on his or her own. The dentist may recommend dental sealants or fluoride supplements. Sealants are thin, clear coatings that protect hard-to-clean back teeth from the sugars that cause tooth decay. Fluoride attracts other minerals to strengthen tooth enamel and ward off cavities. Because most bottled water does not contain fluoride, your child may be deficient in this essential mineral. Sealants and fluoride supplements are quick and easy protective measures that can save your little one from cavities.
- Dental SealantsMany people have deep pits and grooves in their teeth where bacteria and food particles can hide and cause decay. Children with poor brushing habits may also develop decay on hard-to-reach molars. For situations like these, dental sealants offer a means of protecting molar and premolar chewing surfaces from decay. Recognized by the American Dental Association as a key means of cavity prevention, dental sealants are simply a thin plastic film that can be applied to teeth.
- FillingsIf you're embarrassed about your smile because of decay or dark fillings in your teeth, you may be a good candidate for composite resins. A silicon dioxide-filled, tooth-colored plastic mixture, composite resins can restore teeth to an attractive, healthy state. Composite resins represent several advantages over traditional silver or amalgam fillings.
- Resin CompositeBecause composite resins are not made of metal, we can blend and mix shades to find the perfect color to match your natural teeth. This means only you and your dentist will know you have fillings. Another pro is that the tooth/composite bond actually supports the remaining tooth structure, deterring breakage and insulating against temperature changes. Medium and small composites can last seven to ten years – that’s as long as the tried and true amalgams. Best of all, composite resins allow us to keep more of your natural tooth structure intact than amalgams. We believe in conservative dentistry – the more natural tooth structure you keep, the better teeth you’ll likely have in the future.
- VeneersAt your veneers consultation, Dr. Cheung will talk with you about your vision for the perfect smile. He’ll review before-and-after photos with you and record measurements for your skin coloring, tooth shade, and facial symmetry. After designing your porcelain veneers, Dr. Cheung will take a dental impression of your teeth and send it to our lab. There, a trusted ceramist will fabricate your veneers to Dr. Cheung’s exact specifications. You’ll wear temporary veneers during this phase. After we receive your new veneers, you’ll visit Dr. Cheung for permanent placement. In just two or three visits, you can achieve the smile of your dreams!
- CrownsIf you're self-conscious about cracked, broken, decayed, or worn teeth, we can bring back your healthy, natural-looking smile with dental crowns, also called caps. A crown can return structure, strength, and function to a tooth with extensive decay or damage. Designed to fit snugly and function as a healthy tooth, a crown will protect your tooth from further damage and preserve the jaw's correct natural alignment.
- BridgesIf you've lost teeth due to an accident, injury, or gum disease, we can create a fixed bridge to restore your solid smile. A bridge not only fills the gap, but it also prevents repositioning of remaining teeth. It can also correct a misaligned bite, improve chewing function and speech articulation, and provide internal structure for the face to give you a more youthful appearance.
- Dental BondingIf you have a chipped, slightly misaligned, or otherwise imperfect tooth that needs cosmetic restoration, we may suggest one-appointment bonding. The dentist can apply liquid composite resin, shaded to blend with your tooth’s color, to rebuild a pleasing shape to your tooth. After hardening the resin with a curing light, he will artistically sculpt and polish the restoration. In just one visit, you can enjoy a beautiful new smile! Cosmetic bonding can be a viable, affordable alternative to porcelain veneers, but it lasts only 5 to 10 years with proper care. Bonding will not discolor as your natural tooth enamel will, so touch-up teeth whitening may be required to keep your natural teeth the same shade as the bonded area.
- Restorative DentistryAt Esthetic Image Dentistry, you never have to feel ashamed about coming to us with pained, decayed, or even missing teeth. Dr. Cheung can help you not only rebuild what’s been lost in a comfortable and effective fashion, but also give you the ongoing care and information you need to prevent these issues from happening in the future. If you’re in need of restorative care here in the Plano area, please don’t hesitate to contact us today.
- Root Canal TreatmentRoot canals have a bad reputation. In reality, root canal therapy is a conservative option to extracting an internally infected tooth. Modern root canals can sometimes be completed in one visit with rotary endodontics. Dr. Cheung offers a spectrum of sedation and anesthesia options to ensure your total comfort and peace of mind during root canal therapy.
- Gingivectomy and GingivoplastyFor patients who have excessive gum tissue, teeth can appear stubby. What you may not know is that beneath that overgrown soft tissue, your teeth are just waiting to be revealed! If you have a gummy smile, we may recommend a gum lift, otherwise known as a gingivectomy.
- Deep CleaningEveryone over the age of four or five should visit the dentist for a professional hygiene appointment twice per year. Our gentle hygienists will inspect your gums for periodontal disease, which is the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults. The hygienists are specially trained to detect, deter, and treat gum disease. We prefer to help you maintain optimal oral health so that you never have to worry about gum disease. However, if you develop periodontal problems, we're here to help you. If we find cause for concern, we may recommend that you change your oral healthcare routine or the products you use at home. We may also suggest a deep cleaning, which involves...
- DenturesImplant-retained dentures are also a very effective way to restore multiple implants in a cost-effective fashion. These dentures are leaps and bounds ahead of their traditional counterparts, being fixed in place for a permanent and reliable fit. If patients prefer it, they can also have a removable denture.

- Tooth ExtractionsTooth extraction is never Dr. Cheung’s first choice when a patient is in pain, but this service might become an unfortunate necessity if all other restorative options have been exhausted. Our goal is to help you strengthen and protect both your oral health and your overall wellbeing.
- OrthodonticsPorcelain veneers are the premium cosmetic dentistry treatment. The handmade shells are made from reflective porcelain that mimics white, natural tooth enamel. Veneers can make chips, gaps, stains, and misshapen teeth disappear. Often called “instant orthodontics,” porcelain veneers can correct cosmetic misalignments, as well. Plus, you’ll never need teeth whitening for your veneers because they will be completely stain-resistant.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsInvisalign consists of custom, clear acrylic aligners designed to move teeth into optimal position by use of pressure. With 3D imaging technology, Dr. Cheung will design your Invisalign treatment plan, then our certified Invisalign lab will fabricate your aligners. Wear each aligner for about two weeks, then move to the next in your series. Periodic checkups will allow Dr. Cheung to inspect your progress. In 6-18 months, your ideal smile could be a reality.
- BracesBefore you purchase any mouthguard, talk to your dentist. Special mouthguards or mouth protectors are recommended for patients with braces, removable bridges, dentures, a protruding jaw, or a cleft palate.
