- Pediatric CareWe want to thank Bluefish Pediatrics for their vision to create this self assessment tool! We appreciate the additional efforts of Dr. Susan Kressly as well as the pediatric clinicians at Greenwood Pediatrics for reviewing and updating the content.
- Primary CareDental caries are the most common chronic disease of childhood, and early caries are the single greatest risk factor for caries in the permanent teeth. The best preventive measure for early caries is the use of fluoride – both in your daily dental hygiene, and in the application of fluoride varnish 2-4 times yearly. Fluoride works by inhibiting tooth demineralization, enhancing remineralization, inhibiting bacterial metabolism, and reducing enamel solubility. In 2015, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), and the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) all agreed that primary care pediatricians share the responsibility for providing this important service to their patients.
- Ear InfectionsColds, upper respiratory infections, and URIs are common terms we use to describe viral illnesses that cause nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, fever, and cough. The fever usually lasts for 2-3 days, and the cough with congestion and runny nose may last for 5-10 days. The typical preschool-age child may experience 6-10 colds per year. Most colds resolve on their own with rest and fluids, but some may lead to ear infection, sinus infection, asthma attack, or other complications. If you are concerned about the possibility of one of these complications, please have your child seen in our office for an evaluation.
- Emergency CareWe work hard to provide comprehensive medical care and serve as your medical home. To that end, we expect that you contact our office FIRST before seeking specialty care, or heading to another provider for urgent care. We want to be involved in either providing care in our office where appropriate, or referring you to the most appropriate specialist and helping to coordinate your care.

- ImmunizationsWe are proud to report that we received the NYS DOH IQIP Certificate of Excellence for achieving over 90% vaccination rate for 2 year olds in our practice. We are committed to the health of our patients, and our community!
- Pregnancy
- Urinary Tract Infection
- Autism
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)Sometimes we will allow you to “combine” a well visit with a concern visit for your family’s convenience. For example, we may combine a well visit with a follow up for asthma or ADHD, or the removal of a wart. Due to the information that must be documented and sent to your insurance company, any cost sharing responsibility as determined by your insurance must be applied to the part of the visit that is not a routine part of well care. Any payment determined to be due must be collected as part of our contract with your insurance company. Some insurance companies will not pay for both items on the same day, and we may ask you to schedule separate appointments; if this is the case, you may want to discuss this issue with your insurance carrier, or your company’s benefits manager.
- Depression
- Mental HealthOur board-certified pediatricians have expertise not only in the care of your child’s physical health, but their mental health and well being as well.
- Behavioral HealthYou may also visit our office for acute problems (cold, cough, ear infection, rash, wart), chronic health problems (constipation, allergies), to address a new developmental or behavioral health concern, or to review progress on a chronic condition (like asthma, diabetes, ADHD, obesity). Whether concern about these issues comes from you or your child, or your pediatrician determines follow-up is needed in order to provide good care, these are all outside routine issues that are part of a standard well visit.
