Teaching methods may include lecture, demonstrations, and visual aids. This course prepares the student to take and pass the license exam of the PA State Board of Cosmetology. You will learn all aspects of cosmetology, hair, skin and nails. This course includes professional instruction in academic, practical, and clinical studies. Teaching methods may include lecture, demonstrations, and visual aids. We will teach you skin analysis, many facial procedures, machine facials, chemical exfoliation, microdermabrasion, face and body temporary hair removal, body treatments, and make-up application. We will prepare you for the PA state Board licensure exam.You can receive up to $1,000 while being currently enrolled at South Hills and North Hills Beauty Academy. I agree with the previous reviewer. I was also in the esthetics program. The admissions counselor doesn't actually know very much; gave me incorrect information on a couple different occasions. The curriculum doesn't really prepare you for working as an esthetician. Seems the main focus is just to get you finished so you can pass your licensing tests. I didn't feel prepared to work in the industry once I was finished with the course. The teachers are very nice and they are knowledgeable but the practical lessons are all done once and thats it. You learn a certain type of facial and do it once and never again the rest of the course. Equipment is often broken and never gets repaired, I often wondered where my tuition money went. There is not really a lot of job placement assistance. Staff would say they received regular calls from local spas/salons etc. yet the job board postings were rarely updated. I wish there were more schools with an esthetics program in the Pitts area.

Very disappointing aesthetics program, was told it was part of large educatonal program and certification then found out it was not, bad info, seems told anything to get me to register but almost impossible to reach instructors or head of departments, disappointing!
