I have been taking my animals to Dr. Messinger for 25+ years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Even after moving from Penn Hills to Greentree, I continue to take my 4 dogs and cats to him because I am so comfortable with him professionally and with his staff. 7 years ago my Gracie started to have some issues. I took her to see Dr. Messinger and routine tests came back negative. Instead of dismissing her , he said "let me think about this for a few days and I will get back to you". Two days later he called and said that after researching her issues, he thought that she could possibly have Cushings disease and wanted to run another test. Sure enough she has Cushings but with proper medication and testing levels she is thriving at 12 years old! Wouldn't go anywhere else with my furbabies!

Kernick Animal Hospital and Dr. Blaine Messenger and his staff are excellent. Down to earth and caring, this group has cared for all of our pets when we lived in Penn Hills. We recently switched vets since we moved out to Harrison City but I think I may want to switch back and deal with the distance. He helped nurse our first dog through two additional years after we were advised by AVETS that she had two months to live. They know your pet, they know you and the relationship is sincere and caring. Also very reasonable pricing. Highly recommended.

We have been going here for over probably thirty years, and since we always adopt senior dogs and have three at a time, we have had many, many dogs (and cats) treated here. I am completely comfortable with trusting Dr Messenger and his staff with the health of my animals. The Dr. is realistic in how far to go with a sick animal. I have always been treated courteously and fairly.

I have been going to Dr. Messenger for 23 years and three dogs. He and his staff are great! If someone has had a problem there then I would think it is on their end. The prices are very good in fact you get a break when you bring two animals at once as I did for 10 years.If you lookking for bedside manner your in the wrong place, if you want expert advice your in the right place.They definitely care about your animals. Absolutely the best vet and techs ever! Have been going there for 12 years with all my animals. Never misdiagnosed. When I had to put my 11 year old shepherd to sleep, couldn't have asked to be around better people. I moved from the area to Greensburg and still travel to this vet. Highly recommended. No flash, no small talk, straight to the point, like or not!

Dr Messenger and staff have always given my animals the best of care. I don't need a lot of flash, and the staff trying to sell you supplements,treats, etc. I want experienced, thorough, and kind care for my dogs and cats. His prices are very affordable too.

This is the BEST vet in the city. They are not nearly as expensive as other city Vets and very kind and professional.

If you want warm and fuzzy, Dr Messenger is not for you, if you want an expert diagnosis for your pet, he will provide it. Some times he gets a little carried away with his use of medical terminology, but his diagnosis is always spot on and his prces are reasonable as hell. :-) John M Welsh

I have been taking my dog to Kernick Animal for years. He is getting older and has had a lot of medical problems over the past few years which have required many visits to the vet. We are always treated with the utmost care. The staff have always been very courteous and compassionate. I moved 30 miles from their office 3 years ago and still make the trip to see them. I wouldn't trust my Pitt with anyone else!! They are awesome!!!

I think they are overpriced. Also very inconvenient hours.

i too had a similar experience with this vet. but not so much the vet as his assistant. she was extremely rude to me, and then the dr sent me a letter with my dogs records telling me i needed to find a new vet. no problem. there are so many vets to choose from, i just hope you don't make kernicks your choice.

I had used this vet for years and thought that they were just "OK". Not too impressive, but convenient to where I live. The last time I took my cat there, I found the service to be outright rude and dismissive. I didn't say anything at the time--mostly because I was so shocked that anyone would behave so rudely.I have told everyone I know with a pet to avoid the place at all costs. I have since found another vet who is so wonderful, I'm just sorry I waited so long to make the switch. Wow, what a difference!!!!!!!!!!
