The Pismo Beach Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that operates under the government of the city of Pismo Beach, Calif. The department works to prevent crime, protect residents lives and their property and suppress criminal activities. The department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. It employs a school resource officer who serves as a liaison to schools. It offers a community-oriented policing program. The Pismo Beach Police Department operates a special problems unit that is responsible for providing basic police services. The department operates a patrol unit that conducts crime prevention activities, such as residential and business inspections and community presentations. It conducts a neighborhood watch program that encourages citizens to help in law enforcement by reporting suspicious criminal activities.
