General Info
1985 – Present (26 years) I am a licensed therapist with a relaxed, friendly style.. I listen very well but I am not the type of therapist to just “go silent” on you. I do give feedback, suggestions and ask questions. My first goal is to make a personal connection with you; my second goal is to get to know you: my third goal is to understand the problem you are presenting; my fourth goal is to develop a relationship that will be healing for you; and my fifth goal is to work together with you to resolve your issues, whatever they are. I will meet with you for as long or as short a time as it takes for us both to agree that resolution has been found for what you initially brought to counseling and for any other problems that may have surfaced in the mean time I am an experienced therapist: .It's an interesting practice I've had for some 20-odd + years. Most of the people I see are just like you and me, -meaning average, ordinary individuals-with the whole panoply of human problems- how to deal with an aging parent, the devastation of a lost relationship, the struggle with alcoholism, marijuana, or prescription drug abuse, a marriage on the brink of collapse, health problems that make it difficult to continue working, a difficult supervisor at work, adult children with problems & the challenge of helping appropriately, stress, anxiety, depression, a long-lost but not forgotten love, interpersonal problems, chronic self-defeating behaviors, and the list could go on and on. On the other hand, there is the delight of witnessing change, the joy of receiving that heartfelt "thank you", being able to facilitate problem-solving, being a partner in another's personal growth process. It is an occupation that is never boring, always interesting, usually challenging, and personally meaningful. I have a private practice conducting psychotherapy and couples counseling for adults and adolescents. I have also supervised interns and am a certified supervisor. I write about my experiences as a counselor on my blog. I have been doing that for about 2 years now. M.A. Clinical Psychology L.M.F.T. State License #MFC20459
