  In adolescents and young adults, patellofemoral pain often is caused by muscle weakness, overuse or injury. Sometimes an unusual alignment of the kneecap is responsible. For older adults, patellofemoral pain may be related to arthritis of the knee joint. Weak thigh and hip muscles or flat feet also may contribute to the pain. Even something as simple as worn-out or ill-fitting shoes can contribute to patellofemoral pain.

Seivert is an honors graduate of Brophy College Preparatory, Arizona State University, and North Texas State University Medical School. He graduated in the top of his medical school class in 1984 and chose to return to Phoenix to complete his medical internship and residency, specializing in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Since 1989, Dr. Seivert has been practicing in the Valley of the Sun.

  Dr. Seivert specializes in all forms of sports medicine and orthopedics. He is trained to diagnose and treat ailments throughout the entire body. If surgery is needed, however, he specializes in shoulder and knee arthoscopy, and you would be referred elsewhere after the initial diagnosis for other surgeries.
