Geneological Society Of Pennsylvania
General Info
About GSP Partnership Program As part of fulfilling its mission "to provide leadership and support in promoting genealogy through education, preservation, and access to Pennsylvania-related genealogical information, " the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania instituted a Partnership program with other organizations having a genealogical constituency. So far, groups ranging from lineage societies to genealogical groups to college archives have become GSP Partners. We believe that there are many ideas that might benefit from the support of many groups pushing together at once, and GSP is ready to supply a role in coordinating these types of projects. The "Partners" program is also intended to advocate for the Pennsylvania genealogist ( as well as any genealogist anywhere with Pennsylvania ancestry ) and the preservation of Pennsylvania records. An example of the advocacy intended is GSP's drive to form a working group to do what is necessary to gain better access to state death certificates for genealogists, possibly in the form of an on-line death index. In addition to the Partners benefits stated below, GSP is also offering custom Partnerships tailored to the needs of individual organizations; for example, Colonial Wars has established a reduced fee structure for its prospective members to use GSP research staff. - Society subscription to the Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine, 2 issues each year with articles and information pertaining to Pennsylvania and Pennsylvanians - Society subscription to the quarterly electronic newsletter Penn in Hand, with reports of Society meetings, new publications of interest, meeting announcements, and member activities.
