When you reach 65, the health insurance landscape changes. You become eligible for Medicare, the U.S. federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older. Most people will want to apply for Medicare a few months prior to reaching age 65. After you are approved you still have many decisions to consider including prescription drug coverage and out of pocket expenses for covered medical procedures.
