All of our Massage Therapists have advanced experience and training in most areas. We are continually learning cutting edge techniques and therapies to help you recover more efficiently and quickly. Family members are welcome. So what does a message therapist do? Massage therapists manipulate muscles and other soft tissues in the body to relieve pain, reduce stress and improve general well-being. They first discuss the symptoms, medical history and expectations with the client and then determine the best techniques, or modalities, to use. They use their hands, fingers, forearms, elbows and feet to knead the body, and they may apply lotions and oils. Many types of modalities are available, such as Swedish, deep-tissue, Rolfing and sports. They may work in brightly lit settings with several clients, such as for sports treatments, or with an individual in a darkened room accompanied by candles and music, to relieve stress.
