The Community Development Department is located in the city of Peoria, Ariz., and is responsible for short and long-range development standards, code compliance, implementation and administration of zoning, planning and development policies. It also provides staff support for the city council, planning and zoning commission, and board of adjustments and building code appeals. The department conducts inspections of single-family homes and commercial buildings. The Community Development Department also has a planning division that is comprised of more than 10 employees. It has a compliance office that works to enforce adopted codes and provisions pertaining to litter, inoperable and commercial vehicles, land uses, encroachment, building without permits and environmental concerns.
