Dr. Kathleen Stone began her graduate educational career in nursing and was introduced to podiatry in Detroit at Kern Hospital. She decided to pursue her dream and headed to Chicago and was a Dr Wm Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine Chicago graduate in 1985. She headed west and did her residency at Community Hospital in central Phoenix. She went into private practice in 1986 in Glendale, AZ. She continues to serve her new community of Peoria, AZ today. She is an active member of the medical staff of Banner Thunderbird Hospital where she serves on a variety of committees. She currently serves on Physician Health & Wellness committee. Dr Stone began her political career as president of the American Association of Women Podiatrists in 1990. This lead her to becoming active in the Arizona Podiatric Medical Association beginning as a delegate to the APMA House of Delegates from 1992 to 1999 and President from 1993 to 1995. She served on the APMA Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2012 and was the first female President of the APMA in 2010 - 11. She was a Trustee of the Board at Rosalind Franklin University of Science & Medicine from 2005 to 2018 in Chicago, Il. Her work and dedication to the profession have been recognized by many groups and publications such as one of the most 100 influential podiatrists during her APMA tenure. She was recognized as the Distinguished Alumni of the year in 2009 from her alma mater Dr Wm. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. She was also named to the Top Docs in Phoenix magazine. She continues to advocate for the profession daily and currently splits her time between private practice and traveling to showcase & educate about the podiatric profession to many healthcare teams.
