Founded in l977, Alabama Wildlife Center is a full-service, nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation facility that offers a range of services for more than 2,500 native birds, reptiles and mammals. The center provides rescue services for over 100 species of reptiles. It also rehabilitates eagles, hawks, owls, songbirds, and water and shore birds. Alabama Wildlife Center rescues cougars, foxes, bobcats, bats and deers. The center also rehabilitates alligators and turtles. It operates a 24-hour helpline for wildlife emergency cases. Alabama Wildlife Center responds to nearly 4,000 calls annually. The organization operates through a staff of more than 300 people. It offers a variety of educational and awareness programs on animal conservation.
