Days after my Massage Envy massage in August 2009, I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my lower back which required surgery. The Massage Envy massage therapist performed extremely forceful leg stretches at the end of the massage. I told the massage therapist to "Stop!", but it was too late. After spinal injections provided little relief, back surgery (microdiscectomy) was performed in October 2009. My medical bills were over $34,000.00. Initially, the owner of Massage Envy was very apologetic and offered me a free massage. The owner also agreed to cancel my membership (on the third month of a twelve month membership). Usually, they refuse to cancel memberships pre-maturely. I have never sued anyone before in my entire life, but since I am PERMANENTLY DISABLED, I decided to file suit against Massage Envy in 2011. Now, after 6 yrs, Massage Envy fianally offered to settle the case for $40,000.00, which does nothing to address my PERMANENT DISABILITY! Never again.
