Microplasmic Corporation, a research and development company, was formed in 1994 to develop new surface-coating technologies for various metals. The company developed a patented surface-coating technology called the Microplasmic Process. The process can coat aluminum, magnesium, tantalum, titanium, zirconium and their alloys. Applied to metals, it creates specifications for corrosion, heat, hardness, friction and cost, which allow the general replacement of steel with these lighter, less costly materials. The Microplasmic Process is environmentally safe and produces no harmful wastes or by-products. It was developed through the combined application of material engineering, chemistry, physics and micro arc oxidation. Microplasmic Corporation is in Peabody, Mass.
