I went in early because I did not want to have to wait at the cutting counter. There was one woman being waited on. She was having 2 yards of fabric cut... In 20 slices!!! And then the bolt had to be scanned 20 times for each slice. I stood waiting for my turn during the cutting of the last 4 slices, and all the scanning, and then the counting on the charge slip to make certain that 20 were billed for. The employee did not even ask me how many cuts I needed, she started on the next color of fleece to make 20 more cuts. I walked out to the front and paid for 2 non-fabric items, and then left my bolts of fabric in the cart. Sadly I still need the fabric, and of course Joann's on York road did not have what I need.
Waited so long in line at the counter, to have a woman with 6 girl scouts in tow cut fabric. One of them was number 80, and the rest, 85,86,88+ .. While i was number 81. After waiting for 10 numbers (startes at 71), I understand the elderly move slowly, but if they cant atleast seem like they are putting effort into the customers needs, then new employees need to be hired. Such as having an open binder, and going through page by page to close the half empty binder, to buy time between orders. I walked out and shouldve demanded a discount, I drop hundreds of dollars at Jo anns for i am a Costume Designer for a reputable dance company in the dc, md, va areas. This store was a mess, and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom! Fabric was a mess, floors unswept, I shouldve gone to the Belair store!
Don't shop here if you need to buy any fabric. You will wait for hours while the people at the counter check their phones and dilly dally while 20+ people wait for them.
This store has a great selection of just about everything, with sales galore. Their fabric section has a nice seasonal variety, plus the standard year rounds. Their fabric measuring area is their downfall. I have NEVER been in a store that takes so long to measure fabric. I have waited as long as 1 1/2 hrs. and ended up walking out. Most of the fabric stores in this area have closed, or I would go elsewhere. If it wasn't for their fabric section, I would be tempted to give them 5 stars.
This store is not for the impatient. You could drive to the belair store and back in the time it takes these people to cut fabric for you. It could be that they're all too busy complaining about their work schedules to get any work done, or perhaps the manager just hired the slowest and most inefficient people she or he could find.
Good service. Lots of materials to look thru. Clearance is my section to shop. Christmas items too.
