With a station location in Parkland, Fla., the Broward County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency. It operates a citizens police academy that provides training programs related to local laws, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, first aid, patrol procedures and investigations. The Broward County Sheriff's Office supports TRIAD, which is a community policing initiative between senior citizens, law enforcement officers and service providers. The office operates an Emergency Response Team (ERT) that deals with dangerous situations, including high-risk warrant arrests and explosive devices, as well as heavily armed criminals and barricaded persons. In addition, it maintains a military training team and a security threat group.
