Never Again - Dishonest About Repairs & Padded Bill Mower was taken to Saw & Mower (S & M) for rough engine (needed new air filter) and belt adjustment or replacement. After diagnosis (S & M) said: (1) mower had hit a rock or other obstacle, thus badly bending the blade and shearing the flywheel key; (2) the transmission had been trashed; (3) air filter was dirty - all repairs / replacements were completed. The charges were $210 without warranty. Upon proof that mower was in fact under warranty, the charge to me was lowered to $71, the balance to be paid by Club Cadet (mower manufacturer). Before taking mower to (S & M), it had been serviced and tested - the blade was in near new condition; the transmission was little used and in excellent condition; the flywheel key had not been sheared ( I am an engineer with a background in mechanical work). Saw & Mowers dishonesty and malpractice was reported to Club Cadet, who promptly reimbursed my charges. Further, Saw & Mower made no warranty charges to Club Cadet, apparently concerned that the fabricated repairs and charges would be recognized as such by Club Cadet and bring them into disrepute. In summary, the company was dishonest and unscrupulous. I would not consider using them again.
