I was fortunate to foster three beautiful babies, who were able to return to their families! Giving them the warmth and love they needed at that specific time in their life, even though they would not even remember me, made me feel like I was sending positive feelings into the world. Maybe one day these children will become adults and help another person in their own way. The fourth baby I fostered was unable to return home to his family and I adopted him. We are now a happy family of two! Fostering to adopt was the right thing for me to do! Thank you for my beautiful child!

As a substitute teacher, I met children of all ages who needed a home and someone to care for them. The foster-to-adopt track fit my single, working woman lifestyle and filled my desire to help a vulnerable child in my community. My daughter was placed in foster care at age 11 as her mother was unable to care for her and her father was not around. She lived in four foster homes before meeting me at age 16. The Children's Bureau's matching team coordinated the meeting with this bright, talented teenager, which resulted in our successful adoption! Both my daughter and I now have a forever family!

Our adopted son had a difficult childhood, moving constantly and panhandling with his mother, who later died of drug-related issues. Our son is now in junior college, is a good artist, has wonderful friends and attends youth group meetings at church. Children's Bureau is a success for supporting both him and our family!

The adoption process was hard to understand, but having a family was a goal worth all of the challenges. We appreciated the kindness, patience and support we received from Children's Bureau.

Our daughter is a friendly, caring child. She loves animals, especially horses, and enjoys drawing and coloring. We have welcomed her into our home, love her and are proud of her, just as we are with our birth children. Foster and adopted children should be treated as any other member of the family - nurtured and cared for equally as well!

Finding the right match for me was a roller coater ride. In some cases, I was one of the families considered but wasn't chosen. In other cases, my intuition told me the match wasn't right. I was eventually matched with a 7 month old baby boy. He is now a beautiful four year old with boundless energy. We are ready for a little brother for him!

Each child or group of siblings (brothers and sisters) is assigned a team of Children's Bureau staff to review their case and match that child's temperament with a family's temperament. This process has been working well for thr children and families.

The best part about being a foster parent is the smile you can bring out of a scared, unsure child. We've mostly cared for babies but we've also had a few very scared toddlers. There are many kids out there who just need arms to hold them, even if it's just for a short time.

These kids need a stable relationship. They need someone to listen to them and to confide in. It's hard for them. I am happy to listen... it's very rewarding being a foster adopt parent!

I called Children's Bureau several times to ask questions before making the decision to begin the pre-certification classes. After completing the classes and family study, four consecutive foster infants were placed with me, who all returned home to their families or to a relative. A fifth baby arrived and became available for adoption. On his adoption day, my entire family was all smiles. You never know what you are capable of until you go through it. I have recommended Children's Bureau to several friends, family and co-workers who have since fostered and adopted children, all with positive results.
