He later earned a masters and medical doctorate from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.He completed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital in New York. Dr. Hamzavi also served as the orthopaedic surgery chief resident at New Yorks Mount Sinai Hospital.
