My appointment with Dr. Hamilton was basically just to become an established patient and to get help managing my ulcerative colitis. I could have ignored his numerous tatoos if I was sure he knew his stuff medically and would be willing to walk with me through my health journey; but the tatoos did give me pause. He was nice enough and listened to me explain my past medical conditions and family history. My main problem with Dr. Hamilton was that he did not offer me any counsel or tell me what he was thinking at all. His only advice was recommending me taking baby aspirin every day based on my age for my heart. Upon leaving I was told by the receptionist that Dr Hamilton prescribed blood pressure medicine and ordered lab tests and a chest x-ray that he did not mention a word to me about! I can understand blood tests to get a baseline on my numbers, but x-rays and blood pressure medicine? - all with no explanation. And I would have preferred a bit of a discussion about the lab tests and what he would be looking for. So if you want a doctor to just give you medicine and tests based on his private thoughts and board certification, Dr. Hamilton might be for you. But if you desire a doctor to be patiently explain the whys and hows of the best course of action concerning your health journey, then you may want to look for another family practitioner.
