Unique forms of psoriasis include palm and sole psoriasis; inverse psoriasis in which the armpits and groin are affected; pustular psoriasis characterized by disseminated pustules on the body or localized pustules to the palms and soles; erythrodermic psoriasis in which the entire skin surface is red, inflamed, and scaly; and guttate psoriasis which is characterized by widespread small scaling lesions. Nail involvement is common, and psoriasis can affect the joints causing a condition known as psoriatic arthritis.
- Primary CareSkin rashes caused by bacterial, viral, or fungal etiologies are common presenting complaints to primary care clinics, emergency departments, and dermatologists. - ThyroidItching can be uncomfortable and frustrating for those patients who suffer. Skin diseases like hives, chicken pox, and eczema are associated with an itching rash. Other conditions, like dry skin, can cause your whole body to itch and your skin to crack. Scabies and lice are parasitic infestations of the skin that can be very itchy. If a pigmented mole itches then a dermatological opinion should be sought to exclude a malignant change in the mole. Kidney failure, liver disease including hepatitis, and thyroid disease may cause itching.

- EczemaAlmost everyone gets this type of eczema at least once. We get contact dermatitis when something that our skin touches causes a rash. Some rashes happen immediately. Most take time to appear.
- FungusIf you have ever had athlete’s foot or a yeast infection, you can blame a fungus. A fungus is a primitive organism. Mushrooms, mold and mildew are examples. Fungi live in air, in soil, on plants and in water. Some live in the human body. Only about half of all types of fungi are harmful.
- LesionsFor most benign pigmented lesions that are of a cosmetic concern, there is a non-surgical option using the VP handpiece available on the Harmony®XL. By exposing a pigmented lesion to short pulses of visible light, the temperature in the highly concentrated melanin can be raised sharply, enough to shatter the cells containing the melanin. The body then replaces these cells with new cells generated by the surrounding untreated area. The AFT 540 VP handpiece offers unique wavelength and pulse width capabilities, allowing it to treat pigmented lesions on any skin type.
- Chemical PeelsThe chemicals remove skin cells on the surface of the skin and stimulate the production of new skin cells below. This leaves the skin smoother, less wrinkled, and more youthful in appearance. Chemical peels can be used effectively for a wide range of skin conditions including: fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, shallow acne scars, sun-damaged skin, age spots, freckles, and precancers. Chemical peeling can be performed on the face, neck, chest, back, hands, arms, and legs.

- PsoriasisOne of the positive impacts of sunlight on skincare is its ability to stimulate the production of vitamin D in our bodies. Additionally, sunlight exposure can improve certain skin conditions like psoriasis, acne, and eczema due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
