• Dental Examination
  Every six months, you should schedule a routine dental exam with Dr. Kimes and Associates to reduce the chance of developing serious oral health problems. According to the American Dental Association, checkups should be scheduled twice each year to screen for periodontal disease, oral cancer, cracks in the teeth, tooth decay, or old dental work that needs to be replaced.

• Oral Cancer Screening
  Diagnosing oral cancer in its very early stages is critical, because each year 7,500 deaths are caused by this disease. There are no early symptoms that are obvious; therefore, having oral screenings during your routine dental checkups are the most effective way to recognize any irregularities as early as possible. These screenings are painless and quick, as Dr. Kimes and Associates use the latest diagnostic tools available to spot any areas of soft tissue that could possibly be cancerous. For patients who do not smoke or use tobacco, we suggest having an oral cancer screening once every year. We suggest at least two screenings each year for those patients who do smoke or use tobacco. Remember, the chance of surviving oral cancer, greatly increases with early detection and treatment.

Preventive

• Teeth Cleaning
  It is very important while you are expecting to stay current with regular dental exams and cleanings to make sure dental infections don’t get missed and leads to bigger problems in the future. Typically, we will postpone any major treatment until after the baby is born, dental emergencies do happen and need to be taken care of promptly. Many of your baby’s organs are formed during the first trimester, so most routine treatment should be taken care of during the second trimester to reduce any possible risk.
• Fluoride Treatment
  By making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth, fluoride treatments help to prevent tooth decay; early decay can also be reversed. In children under 6 years of age, fluoride makes it difficult for teeth to become demineralized by acids because it is fused into the development of permanent teeth. In the teeth of both adults and children, fluoride also helps speed re-mineralization and disturbs the production of acid.
• Dental Sealants
  Dental sealants prevent cavities by acting like a barrier; a plastic material typically applied to the back teeth (premolars and molars) chewing surfaces where the decay typically occurs.

Restorative

• Fillings
  Are designed to match the color of your natural teeth. These composite resin fillings can be used for the treatment of a new cavity or to replace your old silver, amalgam or dark fillings. You will be able to maintain or restore the healthy and youthful appearance of your smile with this type of composite filling as it treats the cavity and strengthens your tooth. The remaining tooth is actually supported and these fillings preserve more of your natural tooth than the old amalgam fillings.
• Resin Composite
• Veneers
  Consider porcelain veneers or Lumineers® if the beauty of your smile has been tarnished by chips, cracks, or stains. Veneers cover these imperfections creating a beautiful smile and are made from thin shells of porcelain. The shape of your front teeth, color or size of your teeth can be altered with veneers.
• Crowns
  CEREC crowns are made during one single visit right in our office. We no longer need to make a temporary crown, take dental impressions and send them to our lab to make your permanent crown, and then wait for several weeks before you return for another appointment for placement. That’s right... one visit!!
• Bridges
  The CEREC system used at Overland Park Dentistry in KS is used to create all-porcelain crowns and bridges, veneers, and fillings during one simple appointment.
• Dental Bonding
  Often best for the correction of minor smile imperfections, tooth-colored cosmetic bonding materials are often used for a natural-looking restoration. Dr. Kimes and Associates will bond thin layers of a strong resin to the restoration area, and carefully sculpt the material for the best possible visually appealing and functional results.

  Following dental school, Dr. Quattrocchi sought to expand his clinical training to better serve his patients and completed a hospital-based general practice residency program at Truman Medical Center Lakewood (University Health).
