- Criminal DefenseDerek Poulsen is the managing attorney at the San Diego office of Wilner & O’Reilly, APLC. He is admitted to the Iowa State Bar and the Nebraska State Bar. Mr. Poulsen focuses his practice on removal defense cases where he represents clients before the Immigration Court and on appeal with the Board of Immigration Appeals. He graduated from Utah State University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a Minor in Spanish. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University School of Law. During law school he was selected to be on Creighton’s National Trial Team and earned the Honorable Lyle E. Strom Trial Advocacy Award. Derek previously worked at the immigration law office of Jason Finch and Associates, PC, LLO, in Omaha, Nebraska. During his time there his practice included criminal defense. He gained valuable knowledge of the negative immigration consequences that differing criminal activity has on an individual’s ability to remain in the United States. He also worked on family based immigration, U-Visas, Special Immigrant Juvenile Visas, and 601/601A waivers. While in Nebraska Derek provided pro bono legal service at the Latino Center of the Midlands where he provided legal advice to immigrants.

His passion for immigration law is deeply ingrained, stemming from personal experiences as the son of a Vietnamese immigrant and father who is also an immigration lawyer.
- Employment ImmigrationNancy Vo is the Chair of Wilner & O’Reilly’s Employment Based Immigration Department. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Whittier Law School. While at Whittier, she was an editor on Whittier Law Review, had an article published in 2015, and earned a CALI award in Legal Writing. Prior, Ms. Vo earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Public Law from the University of California, San Diego.

- Investor VisasIn 2015, Ms. Vo began interning at W&O’ while attending law school. She later worked as a law clerk/case manager. Today, Ms. Vo works primarily in the firm’s employment-based practice where she focuses on non-immigrant petitions such as O-1s and P-1s for extraordinary and internationally recognized individuals, H-1Bs, L-1 intra-company transferees, E-2 treaty investor visas, as well as a range of employment-based immigrant petitions and PERM Labor Certification applications.
