Located in Omaha, Neb., Douglas County Corrections contributes to public safety by safely and effectively controlling inmates, managing offenders in the community and offering programs that prepare inmates to successfully re-enter society. Founded in 1979, the center has more than 400 housing units and a medical housing unit that can accommodate up to 62 male and female inmates. Its units feature over 1420 beds. Douglas County Corrections is one of the departments operated by the Douglas County, which was established in 1855. It is spread over an area of nearly 300 square miles and has a population of more than 460,000 people.
