- ArthritisYes, plaque psoriasis is the most common and is associated with a red rash and thickened plaques covered by silvery scales most often found on the knees, elbows and scalp. Guttate psoriasis appears as small red patches all over the body. Pustular psoriasis attacks hands and feet, and resembles small pimples with a red rash. Nail psoriasis involves small indentations and yellow-red discoloration under the nails and lines through them as well as skin lesions. Psoriatic arthritis can affect any joint in your body but mostly hands and fingers. It’s progressive and if left untreated can cause permanent damage. Psoriasis involving the entire body is called erythrodermic psoriasis and can be very serious with patients experiencing high fevers, dehydration, and protein deficiency due to loss of skin scales. When this disease involves skin folds (underarms, groin) it’s called inverse psoriasis.
- CryotherapyScaly and brown, these spots are common and can vary in size, thickness, and location. They typically appear on the skin of mature patients. The cause is unknown but there may be a genetic pre- disposition. Treatment isn’t usually necessary unless the area is irritated or inflamed. If a patient wants the growth removed for cosmetic reasons, we use cryotherapy or curettage.
- Primary CareI recommend OlyDerm without hesitation. In fact I’ve already have. I was referred to Dr. Brazil by my primary care physician for a bleeding mole. I really liked the degree of concern and care shown me and the friendly attitudes. The medical assistant who removed my stitches is exceptional at it.
- Family PracticeThe South Sound is an amazing place to live; perfect for a fulfilling career and family life. I was raised in Sublimity, Oregon on a family farm homesteaded 120 years ago. I feel a responsibility to our community. I enjoy sponsoring as many local arts organizations as possible and helping Providence St. Peter Foundation with its mission of providing a stable medical platform for the entire community. I offer free annual skin cancer screening clinics and help former gang members reclaim their lives by removing unwanted tattoos with the “Ink out Tattoos” youth program. I’m a clinical instructor in dermatology to University of Washington/Providence St. Peter Hospital family practice residents and served as Thurston-Mason County Medical Society President and Washington State Medical Association Trustee. I love giving back to a community and profession that have given me so much.

- ChemotherapyThin basal and squamous cell carcinomas can occasionally be treated with topical chemotherapy cream or photodynamic therapy, but a lower cure rate limits the usefulness of these treatments.
- Radiation TherapyAnother option for more difficult-to-treat skin cancers is Brachytherapy. It’s an electronic form of radiation therapy that limits exposure to the cancer area only, without affecting other tissues. A short series of treatments results in a high cure rate with excellent cosmetic outcomes, and no surgery is required.

- BotoxI’m pleased with the services you provide, like my Fraxel treatment. My provider Sharon has the ability to examine your face and apply the most appropriate treatments. She provides constructive feedback on what will ultimately be in my best interest. I really like the openness of being able to give feedback on the various procedures. I’m very impressed with how Sharon offered alternative treatments and excellent results. Please think about providing service to the Sequim area for Botox and dermal fillers.

- Scar RevisionSome scars require surgery to look better. Deep acne pits, sharp-edged depressed scars, inverted scar lines (trough-like), or scars crossing maximum tension lines require excision. We carefully examine each scar and its relationship to the surrounding natural skin lines to recommend the best possible repair. Z-plasty, M-plasty, and other complicated procedures may be used when necessary. All repairs will be improved by resurfacing with either the CO2 or Fraxel lasers performed eight weeks after surgery.
- Body ContouringWe’re the area’s leader for new and advanced, permanent, non-surgical body contouring and skin tightening treatments for women and men. We can help you reduce wrinkles, melt fat and lose inches with comfortable fast procedures and measurable results.
- Laser ResurfacingThe CO2 laser resurfacing treatment is used in different ways. For fine lines, brown age spots and superficial textural changes, Active FX uses a larger beam to treat the upper layer of skin to reduce unwanted pigmentation, promote new skin regeneration, and improve fine lines and texture. For scars and deep wrinkles, Deep FX creates a very narrow laser microbeam that removes columns of tissue deep into the layers of the skin. The body then heals the channel which stimulates immediate new collagen growth. As skin heals, patients notice an improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, tone, and texture. Results will continue to improve for up to six months following the procedure.

- PsoriasisA chronic, noncontagious skin disease impacting millions of Americans caused by the body’s immune system attacking skin cells. This results in skin thickening in affected areas because the body is unable to slough off the extra skin cells fast enough. It usually develops in your teens or 20s but can begin at any age. Psoriasis not only plagues skin and nails, it may develop into arthritis of the joints. There’s no cure but we can treat it to provide relief and minimize its appearance.
