The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission, also known as NWIFC, is a support service organization that assists member tribes in their natural resource management efforts. It also provides services to nonmember tribes through the coordination of several statewide programs. The organization has fishery services, habitat services, and information and education services departments. NWIFC s fish and shellfish management programs are supported by the Fishery Services Division, which provides technical assistance and represents tribal management policies. The organization employs more than 65 staff members who assist tribes in the development and implementation of annual and long-term fishery plans. It also provides quantitative analysis tools and technical consulting services for natural resource management activities. The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission maintains a location in Olympia, Wash.
