- Dental ExaminationBut what about our periodontal score; do you know your periodontal probing score and what it means? During your dental examination, Dr. Eric Levine or the dental hygienist will use a thin, rubber calibrated instrument to measure the depths of the gum tissue surrounding the neck of each tooth. When the tissue and bone are healthy, this measurement will be three millimeters or less.
- X-rays
- Teeth CleaningWe recommend routine dental cleanings for several reasons. When we perform a professional cleaning, we remove the buildup of plaque and tartar. We also clean the parts of your child’s teeth that are hard to reach, such as underneath the gums.
- Fluoride TreatmentAfter a cleaning, we will polish your child’s teeth so that they shine! We can also apply a fluoride treatment, if necessary, to help prevent tooth decay.
- Dental SealantsDr. Eric Levine uses sealants, which are a protective barrier bonded to the chewing surface of a tooth. It prevents bacteria from accumulating in the tiny grooves on the surfaces of the teeth. This covering does not eliminate the need for proper dental care, but the sealants are an effective and valuable tool in the prevention of tooth decay. The application of sealants does not require anesthetic or drilling of the tooth. If you have any questions about your child’s oral health, please feel free to contact us.
- Fillings
- Resin CompositeToday, more patients are asking about white fillings because they want their teeth to look and feel natural when they smile. White fillings are made using a composite resin material that bonds directly to the enamel of your tooth. This material comes in a wide range of shades that will blend with the color of your tooth. These restorations do not look like fillings.
- VeneersDo you like the way your teeth look? Are you embarrassed when you smile or laugh? Maybe you are a candidate for veneers.
- CrownsWhat is a crown and why do I need one? Sometimes tooth decay advances to a point that your tooth is too weak or compromised to be repaired with just a filing. A filing, for the most part, is held in the tooth by the remaining tooth structure.
- BridgesWhen your teeth are missing, it greatly affects your smile. At the same time, the missing tooth has the potential to negatively affect your oral hygiene because of unprotected gum exposure. Dental bridges are one of many options aimed at improving the appearance and function of your teeth by replacing the missing tooth or teeth. During your exam, we will discuss whether or not dental bridges are right for you.
- Restorative DentistryDr. Levine was the course director for the Year I preclinical course in operative dentistry as well as having an intramural practice with a focus on restorative dentistry.
- Root Canal Treatment
- Deep CleaningWhat is the difference between a regular cleaning (prophylaxis) and a deep cleaning (scaling and root planning)? Over time, bacteria and small amounts of food (plaque) accumulate on the hard to reach surfaces of our teeth. If this material is not removed on a daily basis, it hardens into calculus or tartar. This physical material is an irritant to the gum tissue. A regular cleaning removes the calculus that is present on your teeth at the gum level and the surfaces of your teeth are polished to smooth these surfaces.
- DenturesIf you have either a partial or complete denture and you notice that it is not feeling secure in your mouth, you may need to have the appliance relined to improve the fit. Over time, the bone under your denture is changing, often times actually shrinking. Thus, a space develops between your appliance and the tissue in your mouth. Relining your denture, allows the tissue side of the appliance to be modified to fit on your gums more comfortably.
- Dental ImplantsVery pleased with the service provided by Dr. Levine and his staff. Accommodating with appointments and rescheduling should something come up. Had an implant process done by Dr. Levine and he has been very diligent in making sure everything is correct and I am comfortable with the outcome. Had an issue with the new tooth, walked in without an appointment and was able to be seen by Dr. Levine in a very timely manner to correct. Would highly recommend Olney Dental. I am very pleased with the service and cheerful staff.

- OrthodonticsAre your teeth crowded? Are you self-conscious of your smile? Do you wish that your teeth ”looked” better? Maybe Invisalign™ can help. Invisalign™ orthodontics consists of a series of clear, custom, plastic aligners or trays that gradually move your teeth into a better position.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsInvisalign® is a modern alternative to straighten your teeth without wires or metal. Invisalign® involves a series of custom trays designed specifically for you and the plan your dentist or orthodontist creates to move your teeth. The trays are made from a smooth plastic that covers your teeth and gradually moves them into place.
- BracesInvisalign™ is also different from conventional metallic braces and wires because the aligners can be removed before meals and your teeth can be brushed and flossed without the interference of the wires. Better access reduces the risk of dental cavities in between your teeth. Invisalign™ is a conservative treatment to move your teeth into a better position that will improve your smile and your self-confidence. If you want a better smile, one that you are proud to show off, ask for a complimentary consult with Dr. Eric Levine.
- Teeth WhiteningA common request we receive is how to make a smile whiter and brighter. This is a relatively simple and quick treatment option that can be performed periodically. Certain foods and beverages, such as wine and coffee, stain the teeth and contribute to discoloration. The teeth whitening process provides a solution that lightens the shade of the teeth. Additionally, the process actually rids the teeth of plaque and tartar that tend to lead to dental problems.
