  If you have suffered physical abuse at the hands of a family member, we can assist you in obtaining an immediate restraining order for your protection. Most people are not aware that there are remedies for physical abuse by a spouse which go beyond any relief you may receive in a divorce and to which you may be entitled even if your divorce has been completed.   We represent individual home buyers and sellers in all aspects of purchasing and selling their homes or other property. Whether our clients are buying or selling an existing home, a newly constructed home, or a condominium, we understand that the purchase or sale of real estate can be a time-consuming and even stressful endeavor and that it may be one of the most important transactions they will enter into. With this in mind, we are available to answer any questions that a client may have during the buying or selling process. We advise our clients on a myriad of legal issues such as financing, title insurance, foreclosures, eminent domain, and tax issues. Health Law

• Personal Injury
  There is no charge for an initial consultation on any personal injury case. Your initial consultation on most other matters will be charged at a flat rate of one hundred dollars. If you decide at the time of your initial consultation that you wish to retain us to represent you, the flat fee will not be separately collected, but will be charged against your retainer on your first monthly billing. If you wish to pay for your initial consultation by credit card, you should do so online before your appointment.
• Medical Malpractice
  In most cases, no retainer fee is charged when we accept your personal injury case. Personal injury cases include automobile and other motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall cases, medical malpractice cases, and other cases concerning injuries you have suffered due to the negligence of another person. Our fees for such cases are collected only at the end of your case and represent a percentage of the damages we recover on your behalf. Under Connecticut law, out-of-pocket costs are the responsibility of the client, but normally these too are deferred and paid out of your settlement.

  In addition, our firm provides representation in Probate Court and in disputes in Connecticut trial courts. Probate is the process by which a person's debts are paid and assets are distributed upon his or her death. Estate administration includes the probate process as well as non-probate transfers of the deceased's assets.

  Preparation of short term medical powers of attorney when children will be placed in short term care of others, for example, during vacations. This is to allow the caregiver to authorize medical treatment in the event of emergency.

  Al practiced law at Faneuil Hall in Boston until 1987 when he came to Connecticut to join forces with Lois Lawrence to form Lochiatto and Lawrence. He has extensive experience in personal injury law, construction law, criminal law, estate, family and probate law. He is licensed to practice both in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
