Dr. Prater was the first pediatric dentist to practice in Olathe, Kansas. Since 1980, he has actively participated in organized dentistry at the local, state, and national levels. Always keeping an eye on current trends in pediatric, orthodontic, and preventive dentistry, Dr. Prater has regularly trained with recognized leaders in many branches of dentistry and is certified by the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Since starting his private practice, Dr. Prater has performed over 2,000 general anesthesia cases in the operating room, completed over 2,000 full orthodontic cases, and has had 10 years of laser experience treating soft and hard tissues. This is in addition to the fillings, crowns, extractions, and preventive care performed daily in his dental office. Dr. Prater is very proud of his family. He has been married to his wife, Patricia, since 1975, and has two children, Sean and Breanna. Sean is a medical doctor who lives in North Carolina and Breanna is in pediatric dentistry residency in Tennessee. Dr. Prater’s many years of experience in pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, and laser treatment make him uniquely qualified to care for the oral health of newborns, infants, growing children, adolescents and teenagers.

We really enjoy coming here.
From a new patient's point-of-view, it would have been great if instead of having a multitude of forms that all seem to ask for the same data, if you just collected base information like name, address, phone number, etc. just once. Plus, if it could be done on-line, that would have been awesome. Just seems a bit odd that that in today's world of technology, we have to write the exact same information no less than 4 times.

Both kids got cleanings and the hygienist's were great! We love Dr. Prater too :)
Dr. Prater is the most fabulous dentist out there! He has seen my son ( who has autism) since he was little and now he is 15. He always takes his time with him but works fast! He has worked inside his mouth when he barely opens it and has been willing to try in the office instead of going straight to anesthesia and the hospital. Our older 2 kids went to Dr. Prater until they were in their upper teens- and he still asks about them. His team and their care has meant more to us than they will ever know.
