• Divorce

• Child Support
  In Michigan, both parents are obligated to support their child. A parent who is awarded or has sole physical custody of a parties child can file a complaint in circuit court, in the county where they reside to enforce the parent whom the child is not residing to pay child support. The parent whom a child is not living in the same household with has a statutory duty to provide financial support for their child (The Family Support Act, Act 138 of 1966, MCL 552.451). In some circumstances, a parent who has joint physical custody will be may be required to pay child support to the other parent. In making this determination a Court considers the amount of income each parent receives, and the number of overnight visits the child spends with each parent. A Court can Order Child Support for a parent who has a child under the age of eighteen (18), and up to nineteen and a half (19 1/2) years old if the child is a full time high school student. KLF is experienced in Child Support issues and will fully advise our clients in regards to all of their rights.
• Child Custody and Visitation
  Courts encourage both parents to be involved in their child's life and upbringing. KLF also believes that it is in the best interest of a child to have both parents actively involved in their child's life. KLF is experienced in both Legal and Physical Custody of a child and will properly inform and help our clients in regards to Child Custody Disputes.
• Guardianship
  Represented clients in complex Probate matters. Mr. Klug has experience transferring out of state guardianship and conservatorship cases to Michigan. He also has experience representing clients in trust matters, including where the trustee misappropriates trust assets. In one case he represented a trustee accused of misappropriating over $55,000.00 in trust assets, and at the hearing the Court determined that the trustee misappropriated $800 about 1.4% of what the trustee was accused by the petitioner.
• Spousal Support
  In Michigan, the standard for awarding spousal support is provided in Berger v. Berger, 277 Mich App 700, 726; 747 NW2d 336 (2008). “The object in awarding spousal support is to balance the incomes and needs of the parties so that neither will be impoverished; spousal support is to be based on what is just and reasonable under the circumstances of the case.” Id. at 726. Michigan also provides a statutory basis for spousal support (alimony) in circumstances where the property awarded to a party are not sufficient to support them. Even though Michigan is a no-fault divorce jurisdiction of irreconcilable differences, the fault of a party in the breakdown of the marriage is a relevant factor in determining the award of spousal support. Criminal Law

• Criminal Defense
  Mr. Klug has represented clients regarding Michigan Sales and Use Tax, including criminal matters. He represented a client where the State of Michigan was seeking around $1 million for Sales and Use Tax from a wholesaler, which was reduced to around $12,000.00.
• Wrongful Death
  Klug Law Firm represents Estates in informal, independent and court-supervised probate administration in testate (will) and intestate (without a will) cases and the orderly distribution of the estate's assets in Michigan and Florida.   Represented tax clients in tax audits, collections, appeals, civil and criminal tax fraud cases before the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") the State of Michigan Department of the Treasury and State of Florida Department of Revenue;
• Restraining Order
  Mr. Klug represents banks, businesses, partnerships, and individuals, and has successfully tried cases in excess of $1,000,000 in both State and Federal Court. He also has represented clients in front of the Michigan Court of Appeals. Mr. Klug has an expertise in representing clients with secured interests and making sure his clients' secured interests are protected with pre-trial motions to either obtain possession of the collateral, or obtain restraining orders regarding the collateral. He also has the experience and knowledge to seek claims for his clients which are non-dischargeable in bankruptcy. Mr. Klug has received numerous Judgments on behalf of his clients in the amount of three times the damages sought as the result of successfully bringing claims of conversion of clients' secured assets. Mr. Klug strives to make sure that his clients interests are protected and does everything he can pursuant to the laws of the State of Michigan so his clients can fully recover all of their damages.
