  The Texas Probate Code provides for the distribution of the estate of a person who dies without a will. However, intestate distribution is often more expensive than probating an estate through a well drafted Will. Wills enable clients to choose the guardians of their minor children, the administrators of their estates, and to establish trusts for young beneficiaries and those with special needs. A thorough estate plan may include inter vivos trusts, a Will (with testamentary trusts as may be necessary), directive to physician, powers of attorney, and designation of guardian. These plans are developed to minimize probate expenses and state and federal estate and gift taxes, and preserve estate assets.

  In bankruptcy and commercial law. For more than thirty years he has actively represented most of the players to be found in bankruptcy cases - trustees, official committees, and secured and unsecured creditors, including banks, factors, credit unions, and trade creditors. Mike is board certified in business bankruptcy law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mike is a member is the business and bankruptcy law sections of the State Bar of Texas and served on the council of the bankruptcy section from 2009 through 2012. Mike has been selected as a Texas Super Lawyer in business bankruptcy law from 2009 through 2012 and 2014 through 2022. Mike also routinely represents lenders, including banks, factors and credit unions in restructuring and collecting troubled loans.

We also regularly consult with financially troubled individuals and companies prior to bankruptcy to arrange restructuring and reorganization transactions.
