The Atlantic Tool & Die Co. was founded in 1937 in Cleveland by Ernest Mehwald, a skilled tool and die maker from Germany. What started as a small tool & die shop changed direction in 1960 with Frank Mehwald, Ernests son, coming into the business. Frank, ATDs President/CEO, expanded into Stampings and moved the facility to Strongsville, Ohio. Multiple facility expansions later, Atlantic Tool & Die has grown to a respected and highly successful international precision stamping, tooling, welding, and assembly company with four facilities in Ohio, and plants in Harlingen, Texas, Matamoras, Mexico, and an engineering office in Costa Rica. ATD prides itself on quality and competitive engineering.
