Founded in 1974, MDRC is a full-service nonpartisan education and social policy research organization. Located in Oakland, Calif., it provides educational and other projects focused on accelerated benefits demonstration, career academics, developmental education initiatives, youth transition demonstration and more. The organization's five main policy areas include promoting family well-being and child development, improving public education, promoting successful transitions to adulthood, supporting low-wage workers/communities and overcoming barriers to employment. From welfare policy to high school reform, MDRC's research finds applications in shaping legislation, program designing and operational practices.
