Founded in 1919, the Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay is a nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment experience and life skills to disadvantaged and disabled individuals. The organization does this through financially sound community-based businesses that provide vocational services to the community. It serves more than 45,000 individuals and families every year. The Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay generates approximately $20 million per year. Its majority of generated profit supports the paid job training. It operates an agency, Family-Based Skills Enhancement, which offers services to low-income and working-poor parents and their children. The organization is located in Oakland, Calif.
