The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District is one of the largest public bus systems in California. The district serves more than 10 cities and adjacent unincorporated areas in Alameda and Contra Costa counties in California. It transports over 60 million passengers per year on a nearly 360-square-mile area. The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District operates a fleet of approximately 600 articulated, standard and feeder buses, commuter coaches and paratransit vehicles. Its buses feature wheelchair lifts and bicycle racks. The district also offers bus services to various schools. The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District sells tickets and passes to commuters. Operational since 1869, the district is owned by the public of the East Bay.
