- AntsVelvety tree ants measure about ¼ inch. The head and thorax are red-brown in color while the abdomen has a black velvety color which gives this ant it’s nickname.
- SpidersWolf spiders are very common to this area. They can vary in color from gray to brown with various markings or lines on it’s back. They can also vary in size from half an inch to as much as 4 inches in total. The wolf spider does not spin a web, instead, the spider hunts it’s prey. The wolf spiders can be usually found inside a home through summer and fall due to a significant increase in temperature or as the temperature starts to drop the wolf spider will try to find a more comfortable place to over winter. According to entomologists these spiders are migrating indoors more than ever before due to the unusual hotter summers.
- BeesThe best thing that Eco Strike has accomplished for us is ridding us of the angry “meat bees” that tend to ruin any good BBQ.
- EarwigsSeth has serviced our property with great care and diligence. We have our own pets which we treasure and many woodland visitors that we would not want to harm. That said, we did need help with mice, spiders, earwigs, centipedes all of which we had tried to manage on our own for several years without good results. Eco Strike has done a great job for over two years– very effective. We experienced an invasion of ants after a recent earthquake; one call to Seth and ants stopped within 24 hours. Great service.
- CentipedesAdult centipedes are usually brownish and more than 1 inch long. They have one pair of legs per body segment. When provoked, a few large kinds of centipedes can inflict a painful bite that may cause localized swelling, discoloration, and numbness. They are usually found in damp, dark places such as under stones, leaf mulch, or logs. Indoors, centipedes may occur in damp areas of basements, closets, or bathrooms, or anywhere in the home where insects occur. During the day they hide in dark cracks and crevices, coming out at night to search for insects to eat.
- MillipedesMillipedes can vary from 1/2 to 6 1/2 inches in length and are brown. They have 2-4 pairs of legs per segment of body. Millipedes normally live in and feed on rotting leaves, rotting wood, and other kinds of moist, decaying plant matter. Generally, their role is a beneficial one in helping to break down dead plant matter. They prefer moist areas, so if they do make it inside they will not live very long due to the dry conditions and lack of food.
- ScorpionsScorpions can get inside buildings through plumbing, open gaps in doors, vents to the attic, cracks in the foundation, or in between the wall siding where the foundation meets. For this reason, prevention is a good, natural method of scorpion pest control. Check weather stripping around doors and make sure there are no gaps.
- HornetsHad a hornet’s nest in a tree on the south side of my house in Oak Creek Park. Called Eco Strike; Brandon came out right away and gave them a shot of poison. The nest was on the ground the next day and all hornets gone. Very professional service!
- Pantry PestsThere are approximately 12 major pantry pests. The key to proper elimination of these insects is knowing which ones are present. As part of your pest control program we will identify which pantry pest it is and will then tell you what food items to look for. Once the food items have been discarded the pests will be gone.
- AphidsMost people we come into contact with refer to these as tree ants. A velvety tree ant may crawl onto and bite a person who is working outside in the yard. Active trails of foraging workers easily can be found on the trunks of trees where these ants live. This ant typically lives outdoors where it primarily feeds on the honeydew produced by aphids, mealybugs and scales that infest trees, shrubs and other plants. They nest outdoors in dead and rotting wood and are associated with tree holes and dead limbs in trees. A nest may be found indoors due to moist wall voids. They are often associated with water leaks in the plumbing or windows.
- MiceYes, mice and rats are included in our pest control program. We not only use traps and bait, but we also will seal up entry points and offer exclusion recommendations.
