Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School provides a variety of educational services to students in grades six through eight. Its academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as music, art, technology education, world languages, home and consumer science, and health and physical education. The school offers a range of athletic activities, including basketball, cross country, volleyball, and track and field. It additionally provides opportunities to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, such as math team, student council, service and science clubs, jazz band and peer tutoring. The school has a library and media center that stocks several reading and reference materials and provides an online list of accelerated reader quizzes. Its parent-teacher organization conducts several fundraising events. Located in Oak Park, Ill., Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School is a part of Oak Park District 97.
